Senior Occupational Therapist (Ireland)

Company Info: This voluntary group is seeking an Occupational Therapist to deliver a comprehensive service as a senior paediatric O.T. to children with an intellectual disability who attend services provided by the voluntary body. These children do not live in residential care but attend specialised schools or day care facilities as provided by the voluntary body.
The successful candidate would work alongside a Speech and Language Therapist and a Physiotherapist and would be provided additional support by an external O.T. manager and would be able to attend O.T. staff meetings and any relevant training as required.

Responsibilities:
• Co-operate in the development and co-ordination a comprehensive Occupational Therapy Service ensuring best practice and maximum benefit to service users.
• Ensure an efficient and quality service by planning and organising own workload.
• To deliver a quality service to clients.
• Undertake and participate in audits as required.
• Ensure positive representation of OT service at all times.
• Undertake the development of new systems and protocol for service delivery and effective time management.
• Keep abreast of developments in the field of Intellectual and Learning Disability.
• To impart skills to other staff via training.
• Continually enhance presentation skills
• Provide an occupational therapy service that meets the individual needs of each person.
• Advise parents, teachers and staff re use of equipment, aids, seating etc.
• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and participate in staff meetings and case conferences.
• To assist in the organisation of occupational therapy clinics with other staff.
• Attend, on occasion, parent meetings outside working hours.
• Keep adequate up-to-date records.


Requirements:
• Relevant Qualification in Occupational Therapy
• Ideally have at least 3 years postgraduate experience.
• Experience with paediatrics would be desirable.
