CD One Price Cleaners is the largest dry cleaning and laundry specialist in the greater Chicagoland area. We operate 29 large “Superstore” stores that offer value priced on-site dry cleaning and laundry services to customers all over the area. We opened our first store in Lincolnwood in 2001 and we been growing ever since!
At CD One Price Cleaners, we are garment specialists and focus our efforts on the largest segment of the market and the most frequently cleaned items. We choose not to offer service in leathers, down, other household goods or perform alterations and wedding gown preservation. By doing so, we offer our customers the best value on their most frequently cleaned garments.
The assistant manager (“AM”) is responsible for assisting the GM in the overall management of the store and for providing a strong management presence in the GM’s absence.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
PEOPLE: The AM is responsible for demonstrating an understanding that the key to customer and employee satisfaction is excellent people management skills.
• Assists in the recruiting and hiring of high quality employees who align with CD One Price Cleaners company values.
• Ensures that ongoing employee training programs are executed efficiently and effectively.
• Supervises and coaches shift managers and hourly employees.
QUALITY: The AM is responsible for assisting the General Manager in executing the highest possible standards of store performance against the established CD One Price Cleaners operational guidelines.
• Understands what quality garment cleaning and pressing is all about and ensures that all employees understand the company’s established guidelines for garment quality.
• Assists in ordering and receiving inventory and supply items
SERVICE: The AM is responsible for assisting with creating the special atmosphere of CD One Price Cleaners, where customers expect excellent service, great quality, associates enjoy working, and everyone feels at home.
• Takes an active role in ensuring customers receive optimal service
• Maintains and understands a labor schedule that balances customer demand to the company’s scheduling standards.
• Provides leadership and coaching to employees to generate an atmosphere where people strive to exceed customer expectations while fostering teamwork and mutual respect amongst the employees.
• Practices prescribed facility cleanliness, maintenance, and safety practices and follows through to resolution.
• Assists GM with daily and weekly paperwork, inventories, organization of the retail and production area, and the overall enforcement of company policies.
• Follows all procedures upon daily closing of the store including all paperwork, deposits, and other required reports.
PROCESS: The AM is responsible for working with and coaching his/her peers, employees, and the GM to follow and continually improve the overall CD One Price Cleaners process and to communicate potential improvements to the GM., and follow each of CD One Price Cleaners process at the store level.
• Effectively communicates to employees by setting clear objectives and “course corrects” as needed.
• Holds employees and self -accountable for following procedures, executing standards, and achieving results
• Meets store objectives and priorities and works with GM to ensure proper implementation of operational changes
• Considers the “bigger picture” impact on the success of the business when making decisions.
• Reinforces overall CD One Price Cleaners goals and values.
• Assists GM in handling customer service issues including garment claims.
PRODUCTIVITY: The AM is responsible for assisting the GM in maximizing the financial success of the store through effective management of people, service, quality, and profit.
• Assists the GM to control cash flow, revenue growth, labor cost, and other controllable operating expenses.
• Ensures shift-by-shift compliance with operating budget targets (COMP., Controllable expenses), and cash handling procedures.
• Assists GM with execution of Marketing programs, L.S.M. practices and local community events.

Requirements
REQUIRED EDUCATION
Minimum High School Diploma. College degree highly preferred.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Minimum one (1) year managerial experience in the food service industry, hospitality industry, or retail industry. Must be at least 18 years old.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
• Exposure to compiling, preparing, and maintaining store level P&L statements, budgets, and cost controls.
• State of Illinois Drivers License
• Basic knowledge of PC functions in order to prepare and various computerized store reports.
• Exposure to handling OSHA, EEOC, FLMA, FLSA, matters.
• Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing.
