Project Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the New Product Development Manager, this position is responsible to provide design effort support from inception through production both in new product design and in existing product redesign.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Assist in the design of new products including specifying materials for all new product development initiatives.
Provide support on quality issues with existing products and make recommendations of redesign as necessary to reduce returns and defective rates.
Perform liaison function between New Products and all manufacturing operations for any related issues, problems or improvements.
Work with the Quality Department to define problem areas and implement product improvements based on customer repair/rejection concerns.
Prepare technical data such as qualification test procedures, acceptance test procedures, and reports.
Recommend cost savings opportunities based through the re-design of product.
Create Pro/E drawings for new products.
Assist plant or maintenance with needed drawings or production machine development issues.
International travel may be required.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
Two or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Previous experience in developing consumer products, hand tools or industrial machines in Pro/E software.
Well versed in plastic materials and processing methods, particularly injection molding is required.
Self starter and conscientious all around team player.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
Strong project management, analytical skills, and interpersonal skills.
Proven track record of obtaining goal-oriented results.
Able to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
